In 1960 and 1961 Robin Baker was under-18 County tennis champion for Wiltshire and, in 1961 with Adrian Ellis, under-18 Doubles champion. In the same years he both played for and captained the county team. As County champion, he qualified in both years to compete in the season-ending Junior Tennis Championships of Great Britain at Wimbledon, though never progressed beyond the second round. Later, he played for the University of Bristol from 1963-1966, and as captain from 1964 he led them as Southern champions in 1965 to a place in the national UAU finals at Loughborough. |
