He gained his BSc (First Class, Zoology) in 1965 from the University of Bristol, where he also gained a doctorate in January 1969 under the supervision of Howard Hinton, FRS (1912-1977). His Ph.D. thesis was entitled The Evolution of the Migratory Habit in Butterflies. |
